David Smith, who farms near Findlay in southern Moultrie and Shelby counties, nominated the local food pantry last season and made the official presentation during the CEFS Inter-agency meeting held at the Mid Illinois Senior Citizen Center in Sullivan. 25 Years Ago This Week The Sullivan Police Dept. is sponsoring a bicycle safety blitz to warn bicyclists to obey the rules of the road. Sullivan Police Chief Joe Thompson said his department will stop school-age bicyclists who are breaking safety laws. Warning tickets or tickets may possibly be issued, he said, if bicyclists are continually stopped for offenses. Ranging from 179.7 to 225 bushels per acre, the average yield of the Moultrie-Douglas county corn variety plot was 202.03 bushels of corn per acre. •November 1, 2017• The faculty and students of Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond High School and the Arthur Grade School extend an invitation to all veterans for the annual Veterans Day program Friday, November 10. Students would like to take time to honor those who have served our country and have given us the freedoms we have today. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. in the new high school gymnasium. Police Chief Jim Waggoner was on hand to accept a check in the amount of $500 from Worshipful Master Mike Rollins on behalf of Secret Santa.
