Illinois Sheriffs’ Announces Scholarships

•January 25, 2017• The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces that it will be awarding more than $54,500.00 in college scholarships throughout the state of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2017-2018 academic year. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the state of Illinois. Moultrie County sheriff Chris Sims will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $500.00. •January 25, 2017• County Clerk Georgia England has announced two more polling location changes that will be effective with the April 4 Consolidated Election. They are Marrowbone 1 and Marrowbone 2 currently located at the American Legion Post #507 which will relocate to the Bethany Firehouse public meeting room. Sullivan 3 currently located at St. Columcille Catholic Church will relocate to the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Sullivan. Mother left us this morning for a home with no pain. A devoted Christian and loving mother who taught us all about the love of God and the power of family. Honored for Courthouse Restoration •January 18, 2017• By Mike Brothers Moultrie County board proclaimed Judge Dan L. Flannell day Friday, January 13, his last day as Chief Judge of the Sixth Judicial circuit. County board chairman Dave McCabe added the proclamation at the end of the regular Jan. 12 business meeting. McCabe’s proclamation emphasized the county’s appreciation for Judge Flannell’s efforts to help restore the historic Moultrie County Courthouse. The game was close for three quarters, ending in a 7-7 tie in the first quarter and a 28-28 tie at half.
