•May 18, 2016• Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (ALAH) FFA Alumni awarded the first scholarships to four area students. The chapter, chartered in 2014, has 53 members with the purpose “to provide leadership, mentoring, and financial assistance to the agricultural education program at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood- Hammond High School.” The scholarship fund receives donations, fundraising and proceeds from the variety test plot hosted by Jeff Davis of Hammond. Dale Righter (R-Mattoon), and the Illinois Senate Republican caucus are teaming up to honor and remember the sacrifice of the brave servicemen and servicewomen who have passed away. The public is encouraged to submit a photograph and written remembrance of veterans who are no longer with us, which will be displayed on the Illinois State Capitol Memorial Day Remembrance Wall. •May 18, 2016• The Sullivan Okaw Valley girls’ track team finished their season Friday at the Rochester Sectional. The girls’ efforts this season was exceptional, especially on Friday with seven athletes still having events to compete in following a three hour weather delay. Good Weather for Graduation in Sullivan

•May 18, 2016• The weather blessed Sullivan High School with outdoor graduation ceremonies at 5 p.m. Sunday with 83 seniors receiving diplomas. District 300 board president Steve Poland announced the salutatorian Zane Uphoff and valedictorian Emily Stutzman. Zion impressed with a 12-1 win over Cumberland in the tourney opener followed by a 14-4 win over Okaw Valley in the championship.  Sullivan dropped their first game 10-0 to the Lady Timberwolves; then fell against Cumberland 13-8.
