DPH Recognizes National Infant Immunization Week

 •April 20, 2016• Each year, thousands of children become ill from diseases that could have been prevented by basic childhood immunizations. Countless more miss time from daycare and school because they are under-immunized or inappropriately immunized. During National Infant Immunization Week, April 16-23, 2016, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) wants to raise awareness about the importance of childhood immunizations. Illinois saw a measles outbreak in February 2015 in which 15 cases were associated with a daycare in northern Illinois. The local registrar is often a county clerk or recorder. The registrar will ask for information for the baby’s birth certificate including whether the parent wants to apply for a Social Security number for the baby. •April 20, 2016• Sullivan Redskins baseball trip to Arcola  April 27 finished with a seven run fifth inning for a 16-2 win over the Purple Riders. Redskin Dylan Liddiard pitched five innings allowing eight hits, two runs and five base on balls. Liddiard had five strikeouts and threw 50 strikes in 80 pitches. •April 20, 2016• Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights baseball has gotten strong performances from Marcus Vanausdoll and Shandon Herschberger in the first eight games of the season. Vanausdoll  has a .526 batting average and is 7-7 in stolen bases. In his 19 at bats the sophomore letterman has connected on 10 hits, producing 10 RBIs and scoring five runs. Three home runs, four doubles and three singles round out his hitting.
