Voter Participation Center Mailing Sent All Non-Registered Voters

•April 6, 2016• A mass mailing from from the Chicago based VPC is not connected to Moultrie County, and information contained may confuse some residents. Moultrie County Clerk Georgia England announced today that all election authorities were recently advised by the Illinois State Board of Elections (SBE) of a mailing that was sent out in March from the Voter Participation Center (VPC) located in Chicago to all non-registered voters in the state of Illinois. District 10 Road Construction Underway

•April 6, 2016• Since road construction season is in full swing, many roads are already marked with orange construction zone signs and equipment. Illinois State Police District 10 troopers will be working diligently to patrol construction zones in order to ensure the safety of not only the workers but also the motorists traveling through the zones. Speed and inattentiveness are major contributors to work zone crashes. Motorists are more likely to be a victim in a work zone crash than a worker. Sullivan High School Students Conduct Research at Booth Library in Charleston

•April 6, 2016• Students from Sullivan High School visited Booth Library on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston March 29. The AP English students were conducting research for papers on social issues. The students took a tour of the library and were given a demonstration on finding resources both on the bookshelves and through the library’s online database. Moultrie County Tentative Multiplier Announced

•April 6, 2016• Moultrie County has been issued a tentative property assessment equalization factor of 1.0000, according to Constance Beard, Director of the Illinois Department of Revenue. The property assessment equalization factor, often called the “multiplier”, is the method used to achieve uniform property assessments among counties, as required by law.  This equalization is particularly important because some of the state’s 6,600 local taxing districts overlap into two or more counties (e.g. school districts, junior college districts, fire protection districts).  If there were no equalization among counties, substantial inequities among taxpayers with comparable properties would result.
