•March 2, 2016• The Moultrie County Relay for Life committee is making plans for the 20th anniversary celebration. The June 11 Relay from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. in Wyman Park in Sullivan will have “Tis the Season for a Cure” as a theme. Everyone on the committee is wanting to continue to help the American Cancer Society find a cure for cancer, provide services to those fighting cancer and honor survivors. Pharmacy Pilot Program Eases Non-Disciplinary Infractions

•March 2, 2016• To increase regulatory compliance while reducing legal costs and regulatory burdens for licensed pharmacies, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has recently launched the Pharmacy Citation System Pilot Program. Under the new initiative, non-disciplinary citations will be issued for minor pharmacy infractions, such as failure to display current licenses in conspicuous locations or food and/or beverage found in undesignated areas. Historically, minor pharmacy violations such as these have triggered complete formal disciplinary processes, which are burdensome for both licensees and IDFPR, and divert attention and resources from more significant matters of public safety. … Read More

Entries Accepted for High School Art Contest

•March 2, 2016• Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) is now accepting entries for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. The contest is open to high school students in the 15th Congressional District. Hoverboards May Be Fire Hazard

•March 2, 2016• The Office of the State Fire Marshal would like to warn Illinois residents about fire hazards that have been posed by self-balancing motorized scooters known as “hoverboards.” Hoverboards were one of the most popular gifts of the holiday season but have come under recent scrutiny due to a number of incidents in which they have caught fire while charging or while in use. Round Up Week Gets Partner

•March 2, 2016• Sullivan IGA and Agri-Fab are joining forces to help raise funds for the CEFS Food Pantry through March 12. “When we found out Agri-Fab was planning a food pantry drive from Cindy, one of our cashiers, it just made sense to see if we could work together,” IGA manager Pat Stinson said of the new approach to helping the CEFS Food Pantry in Sullivan. From March 6-12 the Sullivan grocer will give people a chance to round up their grocery bill to the next dollar. That amount will be donated toward purchasing food for the pantry.
