Farmers and landowners looking to learn about changes coming to the 2016 Federal Crop Insurance Program are getting their chance during several upcoming crop seminars. The train was a special, and the passengers were railroad buffs who were attending a convention in St. Louis where the trip originated. After reviewing the city’s bills, members asked about a notable expense of nearly $15,000. “$14,900 (is being paid) for a used 2003 Ford F350 1-ton dump truck,” said Justin Farris of the water and sewer department. IDOT, Law Enforcement: Drunk Driving Ruins the Holidays

•December 30, 2015• Drunk driving fatalities remain consistent; police aim to save lives The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Police (ISP) and 170 police and sheriff’s departments today kicked off an all-out effort to keep drunk drivers off Illinois roads this holiday season. The end-of-year campaign comes as new National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics indicate that while Illinois drunk driving fatalities are not increasing, they are not declining, either. “This most recent data clearly shows drunk driving is still very much a problem in Illinois and the nation,” said IDOT Director of Traffic Safety, Jared Thornley. … Read More

Westville Tigers Win Over ALAH Knights

•December 30, 2015• The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights traveled to Westville December 28 with the Tigers coming out on top 52-28. The Knights were plagued with 22 turnovers of which Westville converted 11 into scores. ALAH made 10-14 from the free throw line with Westville hitting 14-17. Westville hit 2-5 three point shots and 18-31 from the field with the Knights hitting 9-26 from the field. ALAH got 14 rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Too Much Rain

•December 30, 2015• Rainfall passed the eight inch mark in Sullivan December 29 creating many of the flooding problems that come along with too much water with no place to go. Patterson Street is temporarily closed because flooding conditions destroyed a culvert along with half the street. Repairs could take up to a week with local traffic being rerouted until the street is passable once again.
