Compiled by Bekki Ferguson-Stevens 25 Years Ago This Week A unique Christmas display at Wood Insurance Agency in Sullivan is catching the eye of many passersby and the community’s school children. It’s a miniature mountain village consisting of two electrical trains and two working aerial cable cars surrounded by a depot, tall evergreens, mini vehicles, bicycles and skiers. Gordon Wood, Jr. assembled the display, and his father Gordon R. Wood adored it. The trains in the display belong to Gordon Jr. and Wood’s other son Gerry. All of the Woods collect trains. Anonymous Donation
•December 23, 2015• Sullivan IGA was the scene of holiday generosity last week. A Sullivan couple came into the store and purchased $1200 worth of hams to donate to the Moultrie County Food Bank. IGA management explained the couple would like the donation to remain anonymous. Sullivan IGA employees delivered 100 hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry Monday morning in time to be distributed to needy families prior to the holidays. … Read More
OV Over Maroa-Forsyth in Tourney Play
•December 23, 2015• In the Okaw Valley girls’ basketball tournament the Lady Timberwolves beat Maroa-Forsyth 47-38. The Lady Trojans matched Okaw Valley 9-9 in the first quarter and outscored the Lady Timberwolves 10-8 going into the half leading 19-17. Okaw Valley came back after the half with a 14-9 third quarter and took the momentum into the fourth. The Knights Holiday Classic is Underway
•December 23, 2015• The Knights Holiday Classic is underway with Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond winning 50-22 over Shelbyville. With Hannah Wallen hitting five field goals the Lady Knights went into a commanding 24-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Rams gained composure scoring 6-6 with the ALAH team in the second quarter. The Lady Knights went into the half ahead 30-9. Third quarter action had the ALAH team scoring 9-4 over Shelbyville and finishing the fourth quarter scoring 11 -9 over the Lady Rams for the win. … Read More
