•December 23, 2015• The Meridian Lady Hawks capitalized on a strong first half to beat the Lady Redskins 36-29, December 19. “We played a great second half and outscored them 16-10,” coach Sheri McCain said. “But unfortunately we dug ourselves a hole in the first half, giving up 26 points, including four three pointers.” Merdian’s Amy AuKamp had two three pointers, Chloe Herbert scored two three pointers and Hannah Wetzel contributed one for the Lady Hawks. It’s a miniature mountain village consisting of two electrical trains and two working aerial cable cars surrounded by a depot, tall evergreens, mini vehicles, bicycles and skiers. Gordon Wood, Jr. assembled the display, and his father Gordon R. Wood adored it. The trains in the display belong to Gordon Jr. and Wood’s other son Gerry. All of the Woods collect trains. Gyms Opened During Delayed School Start

•December 23, 2015• When inclement weather strikes this winter the Sullivan School District will delay school opening two hours. In an effort to accommodate parents with morning obligations the district will open the Sullivan Elementary School gym at 8 a.m. The Sullivan High School gym will also be opened with supervision for middle and high school students who need to arrive earlier than the 10 a.m. and 10:14 delayed start times. ALAH Lady Knights Win in Strasburg

•December 23, 2015• Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Lady Knights traveled to Strasburg winning 70-51 Dec. 17. In the first quarter the Stew-Stras Lady Comets kept pace with the Lady Knights 13-14. By the second quarter the ALAH team started hitting, as they scored 26 points to Stew-Sras 16. Opening the third quarter with a 40-29 lead the Lady Knights added a 15-12 third quarter and 15-10 fourth quarter scores for the win. •December 23, 2015• A cold first quarter was too much for the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Lady Knights to recover from in their 57-25 loss to St. Anthony in Effingham, Dec. 19. Lady Saints had a 15-0 first quarter and a 14-11 second quarter to go into the half ahead 29-11. The Lady Knights scored eight in the third to St. Anthony’s 13 points. Monticello Team Dominates Sullivan Redskins

•December 23, 2015• By Mike Brothers Sullivan Redskins basketball took a 55-30 loss from a larger Monticello Sage team December 18. Sullivan kept up the battle of the backboards throughout the game, getting 21 for the night, led by 5’10” senior guard Kaleb Shumard with six.
