LLC to Name New Laker Mascot at Alumni Athletics Night

•November 18, 2015• Lake Land College will announce the name of its new mascot at the college’s upcoming Alumni Athletics Night, which will be held Tuesday, Nov. 24 in the Field House on the Lake Land College campus at 5001 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon. Lake Land College alumni are encouraged to attend the Laker basketball games, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for the women’s and men’s teams, respectively. Big News for the Sullivan Blue Dolphins

•November 18, 2015• It was big news for the Sullivan Blue Dolphin swim team over the weekend with the first place 200 freestyle relay team advancing to the state meet at New Trier High School Friday, Nov. 20. The sectional relay team includes Brynna Sentel, Natalie Drury, Anna Wooters and McKenna Kull with Lily Bales as alternate. Sentel also took first place in the 100 backstroke. Coach Jason Drury explained that swimming at state does not follow class divisions as in other high school sports. Truck Rolls Outside Bethany

•November 18, 2015• Moultrie County sheriff’s deputies investigated a rollover crash on Highway 121 Sunday night. According to the county accident report Georgia Elwood-Smith, 38, of Decatur was driving a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup north on Route 121 , a quarter mile west of New Hope Road when the accident occurred. The driver said she drifted into the oncoming traffic lane, and when she turned the wheel to correct, the truck went out of control, rolling over into the ditch. The truck was a total loss. Lake Land College Awarded Geothermal Incentive Grant

•November 18, 2015• The Lake Land College Board of Trustees accepted a geothermal incentive grant in the amount of $50,000 through the GeoAlliance Program between the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives and the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. The award covers up to $50,000 or one-third of the incremental cost difference between furnace/central air installation and geothermal installation in campus buildings.
