Sullivan Schools Look at Roof/HVAC Upgrades

•October 21, 2015• By Mike Brothers Aging heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and spongy rooftops were discussed at the Sullivan Community Unit #300 school board meeting October 13. Maintenance director Kevin Landrus explained the elementary, middle and high school had places where water had pooled, damaging roofs. He also pointed out air conditioning systems were gaining age and becoming costly to maintain, noting that two units on the high school gym were not working at all. BASSET Training in Bethany

•October 21, 2015• A new state law requires alcohol servers to complete a Beverage Alcohol Seller/Server Education and Training  (BASSET) class every three years. The training explains the procedures, limits and responsibilities for those selling alcohol in Illinois. The village of Bethany is offering BASSET certification classes at Bethany High Schoo Saturday, November 14. The classes are provided through Heartland Community College in Normal. Two courses are offered from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. and from 2-6p.m. All classes are open to bar owners, bartenders and the general public. Treasurer Frerichs Seeks to Return $4.2 Million in Unclaimed Money to Retailers

•October 21, 2015• Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs today announced a partnership between the state’s I-Cash program and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association (IRMA) to facilitate the return of recovered cash and assets to retailers. The Illinois Treasurer’s Office has identified nearly 1,000 companies with $25,000 or more in unclaimed property, totaling more than $80 million. Among these, IRMA has helped identify 63 companies from the retail industry with nearly $4.2 million in property to claim. Through this new partnership, the Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program is teaming with IRMA to encourage retailers to initiate their claims and assist in the process. … Read More

The time of 47.26 in the 100-yard freestyle has ranked Seth Dunscomb number one in the nation for boys ages 13 and 14. According to the October issue of Swimming World Magazine, Dunscomb is also fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.90.
