Four Seasons Gardening Program Offers Fall Series

•September 16, 2015• Submitted by U of I Extension The fall series of University of Illinois Extension’s Four Seasons Gardening program, which focuses on environmental stewardship and backyard food production, gets underway this month. The first session of the series is titled, Practical Weed Control. The program is offered at 1:30 p.m. September 22 in both the Coles County Extension Office, located at 707 Windsor Road, Suite A, Charleston, and the Moultrie-Douglas Extension Office, located at 122 South Walnut Street in Arthur. Local Athlete on Volleyball Squad at Central College

•September 16, 2015• Shelby Dash of Bethany is a member of the Central College volleyball team. A defensive specialist, she is a sophomore. Central has won 12 Iowa Conference titles in the past 19 years and gained 11 NCAA Division III playoff berths, with three national championships. Coach Kent Clayberg is a three-time league coach of the year and is in his 13th season as head coach. He has a 261-148 (.638) career mark. Antique Tractors Honor Farm Progress

•September 9, 2015• By Mike Brothers Tom Gregory honored the Farm Progress Show in his own way. For the past six Progress Shows in Decatur Gregory rolled out his antique tractor collection for display at the south entrance to Bethany. “It takes a bit of doing, but if I can, I honor farm progress in my own way,” Gregory said of the units ranging from 1929 through the early 30s. Knights Outlast Blue Streaks during Weekend Victory

•September 9, 2015• By Matt Kracht NP sports writer Arthur-Lovington/Atwood Hammond scored three touchdowns in the first four minutes jumping all over Martinsville on Friday night.  Due to lightning strikes the game was postponed in the third quarter with the score at 36-22. The varsity Lady Redskins lost the first match 15-25, came back in the second squeaking by the Lady Timberwolves 25-23 and then dropped the third match 19-25. Lady Timberwolves kills came from Charli Ulrich with one; Kailyn Boyer had four; Kristy Burford one; Madison Fox five; Megan Dash 16. Megan Dash and Nicole Miller had one assist each. IHSA Football Teams Unite in Name of Safety With Play Smart. Play Hard. Helmet Decals
