May 13, 2015 Lake Land College recently recognized its Honors Program scholars where students presented their research findings and were recognized for their achievements. Throughout the year, these students have been conducting undergraduate research in a variety of topics. Of those honors program members recognized was sophomore Adriene Lane of Sullivan, a speech communication major. Lane, who is a 2013 Okaw Valley high school alum, will graduate from the honors program with full honors status, which requires that she earn at least a 3.5 overall GPA, graduate from an associate degree program, and successfully complete four honors course options while … Read More

Finishing second was the team of Dustin Rawlings, Patrick Ray, Dustin Berry, and Mike Lynch, also with a 4-under par. And most of that came from the Yeakleys, Brewers, Roses, and Halls. Almost sounds poetic. Seniors Tanner Brewer and Colton Yeakley had solid performances with the former earning second in the 110m hurdles (16.74)–a one-hundreth of a second off from first–and third in the 300m hurdles (43.90). Biological station near Allenville suffers damage May 6, 2015 by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com A fire that occurred Sunday afternoon resulted in the total loss of a garage-type structure, a camper, and two vehicles parked nearby. According to Sullivan fire captain Larry Edwards, his department received an emergency call at around 2:02 p.m. Sunday of a fire located at the Kaskaskia Biological Station west of Allenville, also more commonly known locally as Fish Hook.
