Bethany Village-wide Cleanup Day May 9

April 29, 2015 Bethany village board members  voted earlier this month to set the date of the popular village-wide “Cleanup Day” in Bethany. Typically held following the town’s rummage sale event, Cleanup Day allows residents to dispose of their unwanted items and refuse at the village hall.  With a few exclusions, citizens may dispose of whatever they want from the hours of 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. on May 9, in any of a number of dumpsters that will be present.  … Read More

Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library Summer Reading Program

April 29, 2015 Sign-ups for the summer reading program at Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library in Sullivan will start May 4. The sessions are based on grade level. Sessions for students entering kindergarten to those entering second grade will be held from 9-10 a.m., August 3-6. Students entering third grade to those entering fifth grade will meet from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. from August 3-6. New vaccination requirements for adolescents April 29, 2015 Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director Nirav D. Shah, M.D., J.D., is urging parents to talk with their child’s doctor about the new school-entrance vaccination requirements, which include meningococcal conjugate vaccination (MCV). In observance of National Infant Immunization Week, April 18-23, IDPH plans to raise awareness of the value of timely vaccinations for infants, as well as for residents across the lifespan. Sullivan Schools’ Amended Budget Improves by Nearly Quarter Million

Final budget later this year could improve even more says superintendent April 29, 2015 by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com In what is a typical move for most school districts across the state this time of year, the board unanimously approved a tentative amended budget at their April 13 meeting. In it, the budget decreases the district’s deficit spending by $242,305 when compared to the initial budget passed last September.
