I Agree with Doan on Sales Tax Issue

News Progress Posted on October 29, 2014 by webmasterOctober 29, 2014

October 29, 2014 This letter is in response to Mr. Doan’s letter to the editor (the October 15th issue) regarding the proposed 1% sales tax hike in Moultrie County that would go to help maintain our school facilities.  Mr. Doan brought up many good points about the proposal. Though I’m not sure I would call it a “no brainer,” I would say that I agree with him that this tax is a good thing for our school and ultimately our community.  I believe Mr. Doan did a nice job of explaining why the tax would not hurt local businesses, but … Read More

October 29, 2014 What is now the Astoria Company, takes 30th most haunted by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com Most people like to conjure up scary stories and paranormal experiences around this time every year. Harrison and moved in. First, Valentine experienced lights that would flash on and off, toilets flushing upstairs, and TVs turning on and off. October 29, 2014 Lady T-wolves attempt last set comeback, but fall short by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com Okaw Valley may have been announced as the home team during Monday’s regional quarterfinal, but it sure didn’t feel that way.
