Secretary of State Offices to Close Oct. 13

October 8, 2014 Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that all offices and facilities that are normally open Monday through Friday will be closed Monday, October 13, in observance of Columbus Day. Driver Services facilities that are normally open Tuesday through Saturday will be closed on Saturday, October 11. Youth Deer Hunt Oct. 11, 12

October 8, 2014 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a Youth Deer Hunt at Lake Shelbyville on October 11 and 12. The hunt will be conducted in portions of recreation areas previously closed for the season. As a safety precaution Lone Point Campground, excluding the boat ramp and Walleye Group Camp, Coon Creek Campground H Leg and portions of G Leg, and all of Wilborn Creek, Opossum Creek and Whitley Creek Recreation Areas will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 2:00 p.m. October 10, 2014 to 7:00 p.m. October 12. Sullivan Schools Plan to See Further Reduction in State Aid

October 8, 2014 Expenditures also rise in latest budget by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com Last month the Sullivan school board approved an updated tentative budget that saw more than $200,000 less in revenue over the previous tentative budget. After holding a public hearing on the budget (which went unattended by the public), the board unanimously passed the latest budget, which increases the overall deficit by $393,226. Of that, $212,726 was a loss in revenue, while $180,500 can be attributed to expenses. Dove’s Domestic Violence Education and Volunteer Training Nov. 3-19

October 8, 2014 Training is available for individuals interested in educating themselves on the issues surrounding domestic violence. The training will take place November 3-19, Monday through Thursday afternoons from 1-5 p.m., in Decatur at Dove, 302 S. Union, Dean Simcox Conference Center. This 40-hour training is approved by ICADV (Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and facilitated by Dove and other community agencies’ staff members.
