September 24, 2014 Aces plentiful as OV routs Edinburg by Joe Wheeler Bethany Reporter After splitting four games in the Windsor Invitational this past weekend to earn fourth place, the Okaw Valley Lady Timberwolves dominated a Monday night matchup against the Edinburg Lady Wildcats. Things were all positive as the girls from OV looked like a well-oiled machine, sending the Wildcats home in just two sets. Disabled Deer Hunting Blinds Available

September 24, 2014 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is offering additional deer hunting opportunities at Whitley Creek Recreation Area in Moultrie County for disabled deer hunters holding a state issued P2A card. Disabled hunters will be able to reserve one of four blinds in the closed recreation area during archery deer season, as well as disabled hunters holding a valid Lake Shelbyville Project Moultrie second shotgun season or Lake Shelbyville Project Moultrie muzzleloader season permit. Mobile Mammography Available Locally

September 24, 2014 Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Mobile Mammography Services will be at the SBL Sullivan Clinic October 30. The Mobile Mammography van helps provide mammograms to women who may not otherwise have access to, or be able to afford these life-saving preventive screens. Women who qualify will receive their mammogram free. Staffed by technologists from the Sarah Bush Lincoln Mammography Department, the mobile mammography van provides digital mammography technology, the same quality services found at the Health Center. Sullivan Council Rescinds Vote on Purchase of Patterson Property

September 24, 2014 Appraisal comes in far below asking price by Barry Featheringill Sullivan Reporter Council members voted to rescind a vote taken earlier this month to purchase a piece of property. Following a 3-2 vote at the Sullivan city council meeting September 8 to purchase the property located at 402 S Patterson for $40,000 an independent appraisal was since obtained. Due to Freedom of Information Act exclusions, the appraisal amount is not yet public knowledge until either the ongoing negotiations are completed or are terminated. September 17, 2014 Three Redskins shoot 40s to earn second by Keith Stewart keith@newsprogress.com Hosting Okaw Valley, Shelbyville, and Meridian last Thursday, the Sullivan boys’ golf team earned second place, but only after squeaking by Okaw Valley. Sullivan’s top three golfers shot in the 40s, while OV had two in seniors Devon Still, who shot a 46, and Jay Orris, who shot a 48.
