The Pentagon Memorial

•September 11, 2024• At 9:37 a.m. on September 11, 2001, five hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. All 53 passengers and six crew members perished in the crash, and an additional 125 military and civilian personnel on the ground were killed in the fire caused by the crash. The hijacking of Flight 77 was part of the broader attack on 9/11, which remains the deadliest terrorist attack in world history. Crappie fishing tourney

•September 11, 2024• The 100 Club of Illinois’s annual Crappie Fishing Tournament is returning to Lake Shelbyville on Saturday, September 28th in Bo Woods. The annual event invites any and all to join the finishing tournament and raise funds while remembering our fallen heroes. Starting bright and early, registration will begin at 5:30 and run for an hour, registration time will also include live well checks and boat launches. •September 11, 2024• Bringing everyone together once again is the 29th Annual Arthur Alumni golf outing on Saturday, September 28th at the Kaskaskia Country Club, 450 E Co Rd 300 N in Arthur. The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Athletic Boosters announced this years annual outing with the outing of course fundraising for the ALAH student-athletes. With all high school graduates from the participating communities, spouses or parents of graduate and even staff for the athletic students eligible to participate. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
