25 Years Ago This Week Leslie Rodman’s solid all-around performance helped the Bethany-Findlay volleyball team earn its first victory of the season. Rodman finished with four kills, three service aces and one block as the Mustangs downed Cowden-Herrick 13-15,15-2, 15-1. Keri Newman had two kills, Betsy Rowe recorded five aces and Rebecca Brumleve added one block for the Mustangs who evened their record 1-1.  Sullivan-Bethany recorded a win in football over Normal U 18-15. … Read More

City Council Approves Purchase of Splash Pad Equipment, Approves Quote for Ball Diamond Lights

•August 30, 2023• by Crystal Reed The Sullivan City Council held a regular meeting Monday, August 28. There was a variety of items on the agenda including the approval of purchase of splash pad equipment and approval of a quote for ball diamond lights. Commissioner Abbey Sherwood said they have the splash pad equipment but needed to approve payment of it. The cost for the equipment is $133,877.60 from Imagine Nation. This was approved. •August 30, 2023• The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is reminding waterfowl hunters of key dates and other information regarding the 2023-2024 waterfowl seasons. Season update This is the third year of a five-year waterfowl season plan that was developed in 2020. Early Canada goose and teal hunting will kick off statewide in all zones, with seasons opening Sept. 1 and Sept. 9 respectively. In the north and central zones, the daily bag limit for Canada geese during the September portion of the season is five birds, with 15 in possession.
