•April 5, 2023• Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will hold their April Quarter Auction on Wednesday, April 12. The event will be held at the Sullivan American Legion. Habitat for Humanity is the charity of the month. Vendors at the event could include: direct sales such as Avon, Scentsy, JBloom Jewelry, Thirty-One, Tastefully Simple, Paper Pei (formerly Usborne Books), Pampered Chef, plus different craft vendors, hair bows, boutique clothing, shoes, accessories and more. ICC’s Annual Hazardous Material Report Found Minimal Violations on Illinois Railways

•March 29, 2023• The Illinois Commerce Commission released its annual report on accidents and incidents involving hazardous materials (hazmat) on Illinois railroads. Of the 8,549 rail cars inspected in 2022, the ICC found violations in just 1.3 percent of all inspections. When these inspections first started in 1981, violations topped 12 percent. “The disaster in East Palestine has rightfully turned attention to our nation’s rail safety efforts. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
