•December 14, 2022• by Crystal Reed Dine with a Doc, a free program for seniors to hear about an educational topic and enjoy a complimentary lunch, was held December 6 at Mid-Illinois Senior Services, Inc. in Sullivan. Senior Education Ministries offers the program in order to extend God’s grace. The program is a community effort by Senior Education Ministries, a doctor, a meal sponsor, area businesses, donated venue site and senior citizens. Sullivan City Council Approves Ordinances Related to TIF District

•December 14, 2022• by Crystal Reed The Sullivan City Council meeting began with a public hearing on the levy and assessment of taxes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2022 and ending April 30, 2023. The total levy is $1,204,613 which is up from prior years because TIF 1 has expired. Treasurer Sarah Golden said the tax rate is no higher than it was 10 years ago and the public will not see their tax bills go up. The council addressed several items in regard to TIF District 4. Mobile Food Pantry in Sullivan

•December 14, 2022• The University of Illinois Extension in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Sullivan United Methodist Church will be holding a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, January 11 from 4-5 pm at Sullivan United Methodist, 216 W. Jefferson, Sullivan (across from the firehouse in Sullivan). A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. Evelyn Harris Evelyn Lenora ‘Nory’ Harris, 86, of Sullivan, passed away at 6:36 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, in Aspen Creek of Sullivan. Celebration of Life services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, in Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ with Vanessa Patient and Brigham Hagerman officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will take place in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan, Illinois, immediately after the service. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
