•November 16, 2022• The Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association has announced the 2022 Academic Girls All-State. High School volleyball players who received this recognition are Avery Bruns – Honorable Mention, Bailey Bennett – Honorable Mention and Academic All-State, Danielle Simpson – Academic All-State, Reese Nichols – Academic All-State and Lindsey Ozier – Academic All-State, all of Okaw Valley High School. Clarence Eugene “Pickle” Standerfer Clarence Eugene “Pickle” Standerfer, 84, of Sullivan, passed away 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. –2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2022, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
