25 Years Ago This Week The Lovington Civic Center was to close at the end of September. The center, which was established in 1968, was closing because of a lack of funds. All seven of the pedal pullers who entered the state competition in Springfield came home with first second and third place awards. Although three-year-old Andy Cole of Windsor won first place in his age group, he is the only one of the seven who will not compete as a finalist or alternate in national competition because the national competition has no 3 year old division.
