SFD Pancake breakfast is a big hit with the community

•October 1, 2025• Photos by DM Williamee The Sullivan Fire Protection District held its annual ‘Pancake and Sausage’ breakfast on the morning of Saturday, the 27th.  Last year’s turnout was around 600, and this year was even better, serving 735 at the firehouse plus 140 to go orders. Homecoming Parade delights

Bethany Safe Trick or Treat

•October 1, 2025• by DM Williamee  BASO, in conjunction with the Okaw Valley PTO, is sponsoring a “Safe Trick or Treat’ for Bethany residents on October 25th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Trick or treating will be done in downtown Bethany. There will be a costume parade as well as judging for this event, so be sure to wear your best if you plan to compete. Cadwell to host Community Blood Drive

The blood drive will be from 3:15 to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at 1533 CR 1900N, inside Donor Bus. To donate, contact ImpactLife Urbana at (800) 747 5401 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 70636 to locate the drive. Appointments are requested. Lake Land College to host ‘Career Day’

Lake Land College Career Day is designed for high school juniors and seniors to learn about local, rewarding career pathways. SBD and Civic Center ‘team up’ for community

Submitted  Sullivan Blue Dolphins and the Sullivan Civic Center celebrated their 60th birthday on Sunday, September 21st. SBD invited the EIU swim team to come in and work with some of the Silver, Gold, and Titanium swim groups. The SBD enjoyed their time and learned a lot from the EIU swimmers.  The community was there and enjoyed open swim, the Sullivan High School boys’ basketball team, bounce houses, and the many vendors. I have been known to use phrases such as “Close proximity,” “absolutely essential,” and “end result.” Truth be told, I still do, not even realizing I have done it.
