Panther Pride Parlor Now Open in Lovington

•October 20, 2021• by Crystal Reed NP Writer A new business has opened in Lovington for video gambling called the Panther Pride Parlor. The business has six machines that contain 10-15 games each. The machines were provided to the business by J&J Gaming. The business provides free soda and water to those gambling, however there is a charge for alcoholic beverages. Sullivan Art Club to Host Workshop October 23

•October 20, 2021• The Sullivan Art Club will be hosting an art workshop on Saturday, October 23 at the St. Columcille Church hall located on the east end of the church at the corner of West Jackson and McClellan Streets. There is a dedicated entrance to the hall adjacent to the parking lot. The workshop will run from 9 am to 3 pm with an hour break for lunch. 25 Years Ago This Week The campus of Sullivan High School would remain open over the lunch hour. The Sullivan school board approved the amended recommendations of a committee appointed to study the feasibility of a closed high school campus–a practice that had been debated by the board over several months as a means of asserting more school control over students’ noontime behavior. The Sullivan City Council adopted a street improvement ordinance. City Council Approves Acceptance of Right of Ways

•October 20, 2021• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Sullivan City Council approved the acceptance of two right of ways during their meeting on Monday. The approval of the two right of ways means that the Bruder Tank TARP Project that was approved during the September 13 meeting can proceed. Voting yes to the acceptance of right of ways was Mayor Richard Glazebrook, Commissioner Doug Booker and Commissioner Mike Fowler. Commissioner Abbey Sherwood voted no on both and Commissioner Chuck Woodworth was absent. The project will be paid for using a state legislative grant of $225,000 and the remaining $12,045.82 … Read More
