25 Years Ago This Week Recipes and Remembrances was published by the Steele family, 14 cousins who were the grandchildren of Joseph Thomas and Laura Elzy Steele. The Steeles operated the bustling Depot Hotel in Sullivan twice during the early years of the 20th century. The book included memoirs, vintage photos, a genealogy and recipes. The Bethany Marching Mustangs finished their marching season with an impressive performance at Pinkneyville Mardi Gras. Millikin University to Host Millikin Makers Market Nov. 6

Improvement Planned for Railroad Crossing in Sullivan

•October 27, 2021• The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a railroad crossing improvement project in Sullivan that will require the closure of Hamilton Street (Illinois 32) from Monday, Nov. 1, through Wednesday Nov. 3. The closure is necessary to upgrade and make repairs to the surface crossing. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
