•July 28, 2021• The Findlay Walleye Festival was held on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24. Friday evening’s activities included several band and inflatables for the kids. On Saturday morning, festivities kicked off with a parade and local law enforcement were this year’s grand marshalls. The rest of the day included the 3 on 3 tournament, car show on Main Street, kids inflatables and garden tractor pulls. There was also music on the Main Stage and in the Beer Tent. School Districts Announce Back to School Plans

•July 28, 2021• By Crystal Reed NP Writer Last week, Sullivan and Okaw Valley School districts sent letters to families regarding their back-to-school plans for 2021-2022. Superintendent Ted Walk announced in his letter that Sullivan Schools will operate in a very similar manner as 2019, with the primary exception that masks will be required only when on school buses. The letter continues to state that buildings and school buses will have enhanced cleaning schedules and that good hand hygiene will be encouraged at all grade levels. Lake Shelbyville Dove Hunt Applications Available

•July 28, 2021• The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will be conducting dove hunts on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Whitley Creek and South Sand Creek Dove Fields. On September 1, two hunts will take place at each field, one in the morning (7:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) and one in the afternoon (2 p.m. – 7 p.m.). Typically, both fields would require a permit to hunt opening day. However, due to excessive deer browsing on the flowers, a free public drawing will take place prior to each hunt at Whitley Creek. Cory Lee Davis Cory Lee Davis of Mountlake Terrace, Washington, formally of Sullivan, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2021. Celebration of Life services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 27, 2021 in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan.
