ALAH Loses to Cumberland 21-16

•March 24, 2021• by Jason Brown NP Sports After nearly 16 months of waiting, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Knights football coach Ryan Jefferson could not wait to start the football season. The Knights kicked off their season with a 21-16 loss to a tough Cumberland team at Toledo Friday. ALAH took a 3-0 lead with a 33-yard field goal by Aaron Likens, but Cumberland scored on the next two possessions for 14-3 lead in the second quarter. Illinois Moving Closer to Higher Capacity Limits

•March 24, 2021• With 64 percent of the state’s seniors having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Monday, March 22, Illinois is nearing the “bridge” phase of reopening that will allow for greater capacity limits at businesses and social gatherings. That number must hit 70 percent to enter the bridge phase, which would trigger another 28-day monitoring period. If virus transmission and hospitalization metrics don’t worsen during the monitoring period, Phase 5 can begin, removing all capacity restrictions. Millikin University Plans Return To In-Person Instruction

•March 24, 2021• Millikin University has announced plans to return to an in-person academic experience for the fall 2021 semester allowing students, faculty and staff to take full advantage of the university’s on-campus Performance Learning model. Additionally, residence halls will return to standard double-occupancy assignments and campus dining will continue to offer in-person dining and spaced seating. Moultrie – Sullivan Fair Holds Meeting

•March 24, 2021• The Moultrie-Sullivan Fair Board held their Annual Fair Board meeting on March 11 at the Moultrie-Sullivan Fairgrounds where they elected 2021 officers. Nick Voegel was elected president, Libby Spannagel as Vice-President, Dale Crawford as Secretary/Treasurer and Ginger Voegel as Public Relations. The Moultrie-Sullivan Fair will be held June 25-26, 2021. The tentative schedule for the fair will be published soon on their website and Facebook page. Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
