•March 17, 2021• Dr. James (Jamie) Lehman received the American Association of Swine Veterinarians’ Technical Services/Allied Industry Veterinarian of the Year Award March 2 during the association’s 52nd Annual Meeting, held virtually. Established in 2008, the award recognizes swine industry veterinarians who have demonstrated an unusual degree of proficiency and effectiveness in delivery of veterinary service to their companies and their clients, as well as given tirelessly in service to the AASV and the swine industry. 25 Years Ago This Week Pediatrician Susan Mangahas gives new meaning to the term “family doctor.” Born in the Phillippines, she is the daughter of two physicians and sister of another. Dr. Felicitas Aguila, her mother, practices pediatrics in the Phillippines. Her father, Dr. Sosepatro Aguila, is a surgeon. Her sister, Dr. Maria Aguila-Manalo, practices pediatrics in Morton Grove. Her husband, Edmund Mangahas, is completing his residency in anesthesiology at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago. Illinois Amish Heritage Center to Move Schoolhouse

•March 17, 2021• The Illinois Amish Heritage Center located 3 miles east of Arthur and six miles west of Arcola and I-57, will begin its fifth year by moving the historical Miller Amish German schoolhouse to the IAHC site on Friday, March 26. The one hundred year old schoolhouse was built about 1920 and was located two miles west of Arthur on Illinois Route 133. The school was moved in 2011 to the Miller farm two miles further west where it was preserved in its original historical condition by Karen Miller, whose father and grandfather taught in the school. … Read More

Board Eliminates Rent For Highway Department

“Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
