Major Drug Bust by Sullivan Police

•July 24, 2019• On July 16 the Sullivan Police Department responded to a theft complaint. During the initial investigation stolen property was seen which led to a search warrant for a residence in town. Sullivan police then obtained another search warrant for the same residence. During this time another complaint was filed to an associated case. Information gathered through both cases led to the seizure of numerous stolen items, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash. Margaret A. Gibbons Margaret A. Gibbons, 91, of Bethany, passed away 10:33 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at The Arthur Home. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany, is in care of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Margaret was born April 14, 1928 in Macon County, the daughter of Lee and Flossie (Bray) Pratt. She married Bob L. Cat City – Editor, I would like to address an ongoing, never ending serious problem that we’re having with the cat population in the city of Sullivan. There are a tremendous number of cats roaming the streets, and i believe the majority of them virtually live on Grant Street. This has been going on for years and is getting worse. Salary Issues Hinder Prospects for Future Animal Control Warden

•July 17, 2019• Starting salaries for Moultrie County employees became a stumbling point for county board members attempting to set a salary for an assistant animal control warden. County board chairman Dave McCabe opened the topic when he moved to approve a $25,000 starting salary for the position. The motion died for lack of a second. Personnel committee chairman Billy Voyles noted the starting salary for county courthouse employees is set by policy at $19,000 to $21,000. … Read More
