Sullivan Church of God partners with Catholic Charities of Decatur, to provide food boxes filled with basic needs that include milk, bread, eggs, canned vegetables, pasta, paper products and frozen foods, to any individual or family in the Moultrie County area. The size of the box(es) are based on the number of members in the family, and this is indicated on the registration form. Second Annual Run For Ronald

•September 9, 2020• The Publisher will be doing a Jeep run Saturday, Sept. 12 with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield. Sign in will start at 11 a.m. at the Publisher in Bethany and the run begins at Noon. The run is $10 per person or $25 per Jeep. All vehicles are welcome. Pauly’s BBQ will be cooking all day. Sullivan Blue Dolphins Celebrate Swimmer’s Accomplishments

•September 9, 2020• Sullivan Blue Dolphins celebrated their 2019/2020 swimmer’s accomplishments the week of August 10. Previously the SBD Board and Coaches would host a banquet for the athletes and family, but this year athletes were recognized over the course of a week. This allowed some parents to see awards being given without violating social distancing standards. Thomas Florey Thomas A. Florey, 88, of Sullivan, formerly of Bethany, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in his daughter’s residence. Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be in the Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany. 25 Years Ago This Week A minor blaze was extinguished by Sullivan firefighters at the Moultrie County Redi-Mix site. Fire Chief Jeff Waite said some paper and tires caught fire through the actions of children who were playing near an old building behind the Redi-Mix building. A time capsule was unearthed in Lovington. The 1943 Future Farmers of America club at Lovington was a busy bunch. They pitched in to help the war effort by collecting 12,500 pounds of waste paper, among other projects.
