Fireworks Fundraiser

Richard Smith Richard Wayne “Dick” Smith, 85, of Arcola and Mattoon, died at 9:23 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019. Mr. Smith was born in Shelby County, on March 29, 1934, son of Ernest L. and Edna O. (Nettles) Smith. Mr. Smith retired from Quantum Chemicals (formerly USI) in 1992 after 36 years. He had served on the Arcola City Council and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and gardening. … Read More

Major Area Partnerships Visited by General

•May 1, 2019• Major General Richard Kaiser and other Corps of Engineer employees visited partners Okaw Valley High School and Chip’s Marine last week. Okaw Valley has been in a partnership with the Corps since 2016. Okaw Valley won the Excellence in Partnerships Award. The Lake Shelbyville Corps of Engineers won the National Stem Award for the success of the partnership. Author Offers To Speak Locally

Cruit is a 1968 Bethany High School graduate who is originally from Dalton City.
