The End of an Era in Sullivan Government

The April 22 meeting was the last one for City Clerk Monte Johnson, Mayor Ann Short, as well as commissioners Mike Mossman, Mike Kirk, Grant Wade and Jerry Risley. Sullivan Softball Falls to Shelbyville

Strong Pitching, Hard Hitting for ALAH Softball Wins

•April 24, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor After the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team won three straight games, Knight pitcher Mackenzie Brown no-hit Okaw Valley in an 8-0 Little Okaw Valley Conference win Monday night. In seven innings, Brown walked two and struck out 17. ALAH scored two runs in the second inning, a run in the third and five runs in the fourth inning for the 8-0 win. 25 Years Ago This Week Tom Wopat, former star of The Dukes of Hazzard and a top-notch country singer, will headline Sullivan’s 1994 Festival of Stars. Wopat’s concert will be Saturday, May 21 on the main stage on the Sullivan Square. Organizers are gearing up for their annual Appalachian Project. Orris and Athelene Drew and Lee and Delores Hopper are now coordinating the project. Two Win Week for Timberwolves Baseball Team

The Timberwolves shutout Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 4-0 Monday and throttled Arcola 18-1 last Tuesday. Against the Knights Monday, OV scored first in the top of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead, but ALAH answered when Dario Ayala homered in the bottom of the fourth. The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
