Donald Finch Mr. Finch was born in Decatur, IL on March 31, 1932. He passed away peacefully at his home in Converse, TX on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Donald served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Sasebo, Japan. He also served aboard the flagship, USS Mt. McKinley as a Teletype Seaman (TESN). In May 1956 near the Martial Islands in the South Pacific, Don and his shipmates participated in the first Hydrogen bomb test to be witnessed by dignitaries and journalists from the deck of the Mt. Walk to End Alzheimer’s is World’s Largest Event

•August 1, 2018• The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Fairview Park in Decatur. Nearly 525 people from the Decatur area are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Walk participants will complete a three-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. The 3 on 3 Angie Marie Diss tournament has been going on during the Walleye Festival for 11 years. Tony and Amie Sparks and John and Sondra Diss are the organizers.
