New Voter ID Cards Mailed

•June 19, 2019• Registered voters in Moultrie County will be receiving new Voter Identification Cards within the next week. As required by law, the County Clerk’s office is in the process of completing a purge of Moultrie County voters. County Clerk Georgia England explained that a purge is done to help maintain voter registrations by keeping them current and up-to-date and to eliminate voters who are deceased or have moved from Moultrie County. Eleanor Elizabeth Peadro Eleanor Elizabeth Peadro, 94, passed away peacefully on Jun 9, 2019 at her residence in Belvedere Commons in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Elizabeth was born on May 2, 1925 in Cairo, IL, to L. Oard and Beulah Rendleman Sitter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Peadro, and her brother, Lloyd E. Sitter, as well as her parents. She is survived by one son, R. •June 12, 2019• Sullivan has a new chief of police and assistant chief bringing small town peace keeping and the latest technology possible its citizens. “This is our home, and we want to keep it safe and secure as it has always been,” new Sullivan Chief of Police Andy Pistorius said. Pistorius replaced retiring chief Jim Waggoner and was officially appointed chief of the department by mayor Richard Glazebrook at the May 28 city council meeting. Martin Elzy Austin, Texas resident Martin Elzy passed away on June 2, 2019 due to ALS. Martin was born June 27, 1947 in Decatur, Illinois to Ruby Irene Elzy and Junior Dale Elzy of Sullivan. Martin grew up among many beloved relatives and attended Sullivan High School where he played several sports, joined the student government, and sang for weddings. At Eastern Illinois University Martin completed his 1968 Bachelors in Education and 1969 Masters in History, earning EIU’s 2006 Outstanding Graduate Alumnus Award. BASO Car Show a success

The Bethany Advocates and Support Organization hosted its annual car show on August 22 at Crowder Park. The perfect afternoon weather bought out 52 entries and many enthusiastic onlookers. Greg Fitzgerald’s 1966 Pontiac GTO took home Best off Show honors.
