Website Update and Special Liquor Licenses for Co. Board

•May 16, 2018• By Mike Brothers For the News Progress Moultrie County Board is looking into revising the county website with chairman Dave McCabe appointing an ad hoc committee to guide that revision at the May 10 meeting. Neil Bryan was named chair with Georgia England, Lori Barringer, Mike Barringer, and Laurrie Minor serving. The board approved appointments unanimously. Sullivan Lions Club Seeks Used Eyeglasses And Hearing Aids

•May 16, 2018• By Ellen Ferrera for  the News Progress Sullivan Lions Club hosted a cake reception at the Mid-Illinois Senior Services Monday, May 7. Lion Verna Tice introduced the 12 members and then made a presentation on the work of the Lions Club. While their main focus is on vision and hearing assistance to low-income people, the club also sponsors several fund-raisers and programs throughout the year. WSS Softball Team Wins Back and Forth Game with ALAH

•May 16, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports The Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg softball team split a pair of games this past week, losing to Cumberland last Tuesday then defeating Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Friday. Against the Knights at WSS, ALAH scored first with two runs in the top of the inning. WSS answered with a run in each of the next three innings to take a 3-2 lead. Sullivan Baseball Enjoys Three Game Sweep

•May 16, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports The Sullivan baseball team swept three games this past week, defeating Pana twice and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. Monday in the first round of the Class 2A Riverton Regional, the No. 8 seeded Redskins scored three runs in the sixth inning against the No.9 seeded Pana to take a late lead for the 3-1 win. I-Cash Comes to Moultrie Co.

•May 16, 2018• On Wednesday, May 23 Moultrie County Treasurer Marci Thompson will be giving money away — sort of. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Illinois State Treasurer Michael W. Frerichs’ office will have people at the Moultrie County Treasurer’s office to help claim property through the I-Cash program. Anyone may visit IllinoisTreasurer.gov/ICASH, enter your name and find out whether they have property to claim. OV’s Harlin is Fontbonne University Bound

•May 16, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports Okaw Valley senior Grace Harlin committed to play golf and softball at Fontbonne University next school year. This season in softball, Harlin is currently batting .368 with an on base percentage of .640. She is slugging .831 with 40 hits in 71 at bats. She has totaled seven doubles, three triples and two home runs. She tallied 18 RBIs, 34 runs scored, 13 walks and has struck out only six times on the year.
