Three Moultrie countians are among eight Lake Land College students recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, a national academic honors society.The three are Marsha Hutchcraft and Jerry Price, both of Sullivan, and Marilyn Thompson of Lovington.
Four students from Moultrie County have been named to the deans’ lists for the fall semester at the University of Illinois. They are Susan Lee Ozier of Bethany and Sullivan students, Tamara Kristen Dabbs, Sara Ann Elder and Grant Evans Tice.
Lori Moody of Sullivan, a student at Bradley University in Peoria, has been awarded a Bielfeldt Valedictorian Scholarship for 1990-91. Bielfeldt Scholarships are awarded to Bradley students who were valedictorians of their high school graduating class and have an ACT composite score of 28 or more.
Two University of Illinois students from Moultrie County were among the 1,721 students earning degrees in January. Sue Patrice Buckner of Sullivan earned her master of social work degree, and Kevin A. McReynolds of Bethany earned his bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Six Sullivan Middle School students will advance to the Mattoon Elks Hoop Shoot competition at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Mattoon Junior High gym. Chris Kottwitz led all of the Sullivan shooters and won his age group when he completed 20 of 25 attempts. Sally Mundy, Phil Turner, Travis Nolte, Tiffany Bone and Melissa Bone also won the chance to advance in their respective age groups.
