It’s hard to tell whether it was a few comforting words to settle her sheep down or her technique, but both earned Tonya Doty of Lovington showmanship honors at the conclusion of the sheep show last weekend during the Moultrie Sullivan 4-H and Junior Fair.
4-H Horticulture judging completed the judging events in the 1991 Moultrie-Sullivan 4-H and Jr. Fair. Best of Show for vegetable gardening went to Beth Parsons of Bethany. State Fair delegates include Beth Parsons, Erin Parsons and Nicole McCabe, all of Bethany—vegetable gardening; Carrie Jackson of Lovington—terrarium; Sarah Jackson of Lovington—flower arranging; and Ryan Cobb of Sullivan—herb gardening.
Lovington 4-H’ers took top honors during the Moultrie County 4-H and Junior Livestock Show held last weekend at the 4-H Center. Joy Day of Lovington showed the Grand Champion English Bred Steer in the beef show, and Marissa Bolsen of Lovington took top swine show honors with the Grand Champion Barrow. In the Sheep Show Tonya Doty of Lovington was the owner of the 4-H show grand champion. Toby Bolsen of Lovington took senior showmanship honors in the beef show while Curtis Wise of Bethany was named best junior showman.
