The campus of Sullivan High School would remain open over the lunch hour. The Sullivan school board approved the amended recommendations of a committee appointed to study the feasibility of a closed high school campus--a practice that had been debated by the board over several months as a means of asserting more school control over students’ noontime behavior.
The Sullivan City Council adopted a street improvement ordinance. Adopted annually, that year’s non-referendum ordinance called for the borrowing of $50,000 to improve city streets and alleys and levied a tax for the payment of the principle and interest. The interest rate was 5.75 percent.
