The Sullivan Police Dept. is sponsoring a bicycle safety blitz to warn bicyclists to obey the rules of the road. Sullivan Police Chief Joe Thompson said his department will stop school-age bicyclists who are breaking safety laws. Warning tickets or tickets may possibly be issued, he said, if bicyclists are continually stopped for offenses.
Ranging from 179.7 to 225 bushels per acre, the average yield of the Moultrie-Douglas county corn variety plot was 202.03 bushels of corn per acre. This compared to 130.5 bushels per acre the previous year.
Moultrie County has been chosen to receive $9,388 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area. United Way of America will provide the administrative staff and function as fiscal agent for the national fund allocation.
