The Dalton City Christian Church will mark its 130th anniversary with an open house. Extensive remodeling of the sanctuary will be unveiled and a dedication ceremony will be held based on the dedication ceremony used when the present church was dedicated in 1956. The present church building is the third to stand in the same location. The first church, one of the oldest buildings in Moultrie County burned down in the 1920s. It was replaced by a brick church which also burned down in the 1950s. The present building was erected in 1956, and the steeple was added in the 1980s. The remodeled sanctuary is the first major renovation the church has had since 1978.
On a cold, blustery day, the Redskins bid to warm the hearts of the faithful fell short in their IHSA Class 2A quarterfinal game with Central A&M. Luke Tillman’s fourth quarter touchdown broke a scoreless tie, and the Raider defense handled the rest as Central advanced with an 8-2 victory ending the Redskins’ season.
