Six lovely young women will compete for the title of Miss Lovington during JuneFest. The contestants are Chastity Smith, Jamie Coon, Teresa Wilhelm, Amber Workman, Joy Gale and Kandi Morgan. This year not only gifts will be awarded to the winner; Bob and Kathy Aldridge set up a monetary scholarship to be used for a post-secondary education.
Wendy Gilmore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Gilmore of Sullivan, was a 1993-94 Presidential Scholarship Award finalist during the Blackburn College Presidential Honors weekend celebration.
Six Moultrie County residents graduated in May from the University of Illinois. Jacquelyn Hissong of Lovington and William Atchison, Daniel Dunphy and David White of Sullivan all graduated with a BS degree in agriculture. Jason Stone of Sullivan received a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts and sciences. Chris Freese of Sullivan earned his master of business administration degree.
Over 80 holes of golf were played by Sullivan firemen Jim Hess and John Pruitt and eight others who raised approximately $5,000 for the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society during the Longest Day of Golf.
