Bethany schools adopted a budget with positive balances at the Sept. meeting. Supt. Steve Mitchell reported projected revenue of $1,438,993 against $1,891,402 in expenditures. He noted the $337,853 Mo Co tax receipts were credited fiscal 1992, making up the budget difference.
In spite of standing a chance to lose $30,215 in state aid the Bethany school board rejected a plan to allow students to make up time missed during the nine day teachers strike.
State Senator Penny Severns and State Rep. John Dunn attended the Moultrie Democratic party’s free fish fry and rally along with 300 party faithful.
Moultrie County’s record for choosing the president drew the attention of WILL TV’s Prairie Fire program. Only Crook Co. Oregon and Palo Alto Co. in California have better records since votes were first recorded in Moultrie County in 1844.
