Twice over the past two months, the Spanish Club has collected food to be given to five different families in the surrounding Sullivan area.
Each member of the club was assigned a group and everyone signed up for one or more food items to be gathered and delivered on November 22 and again on December 12.
The seniors who are apart of Spanish Club went along with Amy Eller and Jodi Elzy to assist in delivering the food boxes to the families. Mrs. Eller and Mrs. Elzy work at Bright Start which is an organization that helps out families that are less fortunate.

Senior Meena Corkill said, “It made me realize how easy it is to help a family in need, and it was so amazing to see how much they appreciated what we got for them.”
“I was nervous going into it, but it was such a life-changing experience to see what an impact our donations have on these families during the holiday season, especially the little ones. I would do it again in a heartbeat,” said senior Shyanne Hunter about helping with this cause.
For the 2019-2020 school year, the Sullivan Spanish Club currently has 48 members.
Food drives like the two mentioned previously are just a couple of the service projects the club takes on each year.
In years past, the club has sang Christmas carols at various nursing homes in the Sullivan area along with translating letters from children in Honduras for their scholarship sponsors living locally.
