Single Car Crash Kills Driver
A Newman man was killed in a single vehicle accident near Gays. At 11:44 p.m. Monday, December 14. The Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Coles County Emergency Communications (CECOM) of a single vehicle crash on Illinois Route 16 near Gays.
The driver, James V Dodge 54 of Newman was killed in the crash when his vehicle struck two large wood poles that held a road sign.
Moultrie County Coroner Lynn Reed pronounced Dodge deceased at 12:08 a.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office and the Moultrie County Coroner’s Office.
