It is with saddened hearts that the Moultrie County Health Department (MCHD) confirms a sixth COVID-19 related death of a Moultrie County female resident in her 50s.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends and ask for their privacy during this difficult time,” Angela Hogan, Administrator for the Moultrie County Health Department, said. “The MCHD will release no additional information.”
To date, 411 Moultrie County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, which includes five previous COVID-19 related deaths.
The Illinois Department of Public Health recently placed Moultrie County under a “warning status” due to increased COVID-19 positivity rates among county residents. For the period ending Friday, October 16, 2020, Moultrie County’s positivity rate was 12.2% which exceeds the 8.0% limit.
The MCHD strongly advises individuals and businesses to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities by using these precautions:

• Wear a mask when in public places.
• Wash hands routinely.
• Above all, stay home if ill.
