Solid Rock Chapel Recognized for Community Service Excellence
•October 3, 2018•
C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation recently showcased their 53rd year of accomplishments that demonstrated that community action helps people and changes lives. During the 2018 annual meeting some very special people and organizations were recognized as valuable community partners who enhanced the level of service to those in need.
According to C.E.F.S. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Bushur, “Without community partners like Solid Rock Chapel it would have been difficult to attain and achieve the agency outcomes and successes.”
In 2014, Solid Rock Chapel began a community garden on the church grounds run by volunteers. The volunteers who tend the garden plant more than enough vegetables to feed themselves, with the intention of sharing with the C.E.F.S. Moultrie County Outreach Food Pantry. The volunteers bring a wide variety of fresh produce including sweet corn, green beans, squash, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, and a variety of lettuce. The fresh produce is delivered to the Outreach Food Pantry by volunteers once a week and sometimes twice a week. The Outreach Food Pantry usually provides canned vegetables in the food boxes because they do not have the available resources to provide fresh produce. Solid Rock Chapel’s community garden fills this void.
