Area Players Earn OV Division Honors

Several area basketball players earned all-Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division honors this past week.

For Okaw Valley, senior Jared Bunfill was named to the 7-member 2017-18 all-Little Okaw Valley Conference Northwest Division boys basketball team.

Bunfill averaged a team-high 11.9 points per game. Read More

Boyer to Mexico in May

Britton Boyer of Sullivan along with her teammates of Trevecca Nazarene University’s basketball team will travel to the Chiapas region of Mexico May 8-15 to help rebuild housing in the area heavily impacted by the recent earthquakes.  Read More

Central Illinois Crush Organizes
Central Illinois Crush baseball team was recently organized by Sullivan native Josh Wright, his wife, Dana Rose and Jeff Rose. Central Illinois Crush 11U Baseball team is a newly founded baseball team that is based out of Sullivan with 13 players and four coaches.
The team met March 11 with one of the team sponsors Courtyard Estates in Sullivan. The entire team and coaches had lunch and photograph sessions with Courtyard residents and talked baseball.

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond girls’ track team competed in the Charleston Indoor Girls’ Invitational Saturday at Eastern Illinois University.

Top Knight finishers include Kenli Nettles who won the high jump with a height of 5 feet 8 inches. Read More

OV Baseball Opens Season Shutting Out Central A&M

The Okaw Valley baseball team did not wait long to transfer expectations into results in its season opener against Central A&M Monday night.

The Timberwolves 14 runs in three innings to shutout the Raiders 14-0 in a 5-inning a game.

Trevecca University Team Features Sullivan Player

Brittin Boyer is celebrating achievements during Trevecca women’s basketball season.

Boyer from Sullivan was the Trevecca University Trojans’ primary threat in the post. Boyer transferred from Eastern Illinois University before the 2017-18 season. Boyer finished second in scoring (9.4 PPG) and led the team in rebounding (6.3 RPG), which was ninth most in the Great Midwest. She finished second in assists (49) and turned in three double-doubles. The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
