The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond boys’ basketball team defeated Cerro Gordo/Bement and Arthur Christian but could not carry that momentum into a win at the Pana Class 2A regional.
ALAH fell to Toledo-Cumberland in the regional 61-32 to end its season.
The Knights trailed 13-4 after the first quarter and did not recover.
Shandon Herschberger led the Knights with 11 points and two assists, and Kobe Wells and Will Cohan each scored five points.
Colton Romine collected a team-high four rebounds, and Marcus Vanausdoll added a team-high three steals. Each player scored a basket. Read More

Okaw Valley junior guard Paige Robinson competed in the Class 1A State Final of the IHSA Three-Point Showdown Thursday, Feb. 23 and was named third team all-state by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Monday, Feb 27.
Robinson was shooter No. 5 in group three at Illinois State University.
She was one of 28 shooters.
She made seven-of-15 but did not advance to the final round.
During the season, Robinson was 76-of-203 (.374) from beyond the three-point line. Read More

The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball team lost 69-60 to Central A&M in the semifinals of the IHSA Class 1A regional tournament in Findlay last Wednesday.
The Raiders took an early 11-2 lead in the first quarter and maintained a 4-to-9 point cushion for most of the game.
The Timberwolves made several runs at CAM, including a 10-0 third-quarter run that cut the lead to one, 39-38, with 4:32 left, but Okaw Valley could not get over the hump.
“Wednesday was a hard fought battle,” said Okaw Valley coach Brooks Inman. “Our kids fell behind early but continually battled back. Every time we needed to get a stop on defense, A&M would hit a big shot.”
Three seniors played their last high school basketball game Wednesday: Taylor Coleman, Ty Nichols and Connor Cloyd. Read More

The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball team won on senior night Friday then advanced in the first round of the IHSA Class 1A regional at Okaw Valley High School in Findlay Feb. 20.
The host Timberwolves defeated Edinburg in the first round of the regional.
Okaw Valley did not blow out Edinburg but did increase its lead by three points each quarter for a 12-point win, 51-39.
Taylor Coleman scored a game-high 20 points, and Connor Cloyd hit double digits with 12 points.
Garrett Fritts added six points, and Jared Bunfill had five.

The Sullivan boys’ basketball team dropped its last two Central Illinois Conference games to Clinton and Warrensburg-Latham and then lost in the Class 2A regional to host Pana to end Redskins’ season.
Against Pana Monday, Bryce Farris’s game-high 19 points and nine rebounds were not enough for the Bulldogs to overcome the Panthers.
Farris kept his team in the game in the first quarter, scoring eight points to cut the Panther lead to 11-10.
Sullivan stayed close in the second quarter but trailed 18-13 at half. Read More

Sullivan-Okaw Valley-Shelbyville boys’ swim team placed fifth in the 29-school IHSA swimming and diving sectionals at Champaign Centennial High School Saturday.
Sullivan’s 200 Medley Relay team placed second with a time of 1:47.66.
The relay members included Charlie Goss, Brodie Goss, Bryce King and Aiden Short. Read More

Okaw Valley guard Paige Robinson advanced to the IHSA Class 1A shootout state finals at Redbird Arena Thursday.
Robinson advanced from a shootout with three other shooters, hitting 6-of-10, after hitting 6-of-15 to get to the shootout in the sectional round.
She is one of 28 shooters left.
The junior guard finished the season with 21.6 points and had a season high 35 points against rival Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament.
She finished with four 30-point games and 18 20-point games.
She shot 48 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc.
She made 74 percent of her free throws and averaged 5.3 rebounds per game.
She also totaled 3.1 assists, 3.4 steals and 2.9 blocks per game.
She also made the All-Pana Thanksgiving tournament team and the Okaw Valley Girls’ Holiday all-tournament team.[/s2If]
