The Sullivan Blue Dolphins wrapped up 2023 by competing at the Red Raider Aquatics Harvest Classic in Springfield followed by hosting the annual December Christmas Jingle Invitational at the Sullivan Civic Center.
A total of eight teams competed in Springfield at the Red Raiders Aquatics Harvest Classic with the Sullivan Blue Dolphins bringing home 1474 team points earning them a 3rd place finish overall. Read More

The Lady Redskins picked up two crucial conference wins last week to remain perfect in their conference standings at 4-0. Overall, the two wins brought them to 5-6 on the season.
Up first was a home game against the ALAH Lady Knights. The game plan all along was to contain ALAH senior Claire Seal who recently secured her place in Lady Knights’ history when she topped 1,000 career points in a game against Shelbyville. As expected, Seal led the Lady Knights in scoring, but was limited to just 14 total points in the contest. No other ALAH player had more than four points.
Offensively, the Lady Redskins got down to business and they shared the wealth among the team as eight players tallied two or more points. Mae Dawkins was dialed in as she hit two threes in the evening and finished tied with a team high of nine points. Matching her was Shae Ellis who also hit two threes and finished with nine points. The Sullivan Redskins returned to action last Monday after suffering their first loss the previous Saturday to Tuscola. They shook that defeat off and got back to work on the Blue Ridge Knights, securing their seventh win 57-49.
The first half was close but belonged to the Redskins. Brett Bushue, Aiden Ballinger, and Camden Watkins all hit threes in the first quarter. Bushue added two more in the second quarter while Watkins added one more. The team would finish with nine baskets beyond the arc in the game. Watkins led the scoring with 20 while Bushue was close behind with 16. Read More

Dawkins Places First on Vault Pass
Sylvia Dawkins, of Sullivan, earned a first place finish on her vault pass at the gymnastics meet, Crossroads Classic in Bloomington. Sylvia is in 6th grade in Sullivan and trains at the Mattoon Academy of Gymnastics.

The Redskins won an overtime thriller against the Paris Tigers 49-47. This win now matches the total number of wins the team had all last season. And the team isn’t looking at slowing down anytime soon. Read More

At times, last week’s matchup against the Windsor-Stew Stras Hatchets looked like a football contest. But Sullivan has shown they are a team of high athleticism and depth on the bench to keep frequent substitutions in rotation. This is in part to what helped the Redskins in their home opener win 57-39. Read More

The Sullivan Lady Redskins were busy last week with contests against St. Teresa, Champaign Central, and Paris. Unfortunately, the results of each of those games were similar, but the Lady Redskins look to learn from these losses as they move into some conference play this week. Read More

SBD brought home a First Place win from the 2023 IN THT Halloween Splash, earning a whopping 2395 points. The team showed up to Terre Haute ready to swim fast and bring home awards.

The Sullivan Redskins were participants in the Mary Sur Shootout held in Neoga last weekend. They ended the tournament with wins over Cisne, Neoga, and Georgetown-Ridge Farm. A key to their success could be attributed to strong first quarters. Read More
